Shocking News: Midfielder shocked by Newcastle United offer, jumping a level in one go

Newcastle United’s young midfielder Baran Yıldız has opened up to Turkish media about his unexpected move to the Premier League club.
The 18-year-old joined Newcastle from Gençlerbirliği in the last transfer window and recently spoke with Fotomaç about the surprising nature of the transfer. Yıldız admitted that he didn’t see a move to England coming so early in his career.
“I couldn’t believe it. I never expected something like this at 18,” he said. “My dream was to play in the Turkish Super Lig and then move abroad, but I’ve skipped that step entirely. The offer was a real surprise.”
Yıldız has not yet made a senior appearance, having spent the season with Gençlerbirliği’s U19s. He played 27 matches across various youth levels for the club, scoring seven goals.
Given the fierce competition for places in Newcastle’s first team, it’s unlikely he’ll feature regularly next season. A loan move is being considered, potentially back to Turkey, which would not only offer valuable senior experience but also sidestep any work permit complications.
