Rodgers has faced scrutiny in recent weeks amid fan protests and speculation over his long-term commitment. But Mulgrew insists the Celtic boss is putting all his energy into the team and is determined to keep performances on the right track.
The ex-Scotland international pointed to the display against Partick Thistle as proof that Rodgers’ work on the training ground is paying off, with a sharper, more purposeful approach in possession evident throughout the 4-0 victory.
For Mulgrew, the key now is not whether Rodgers has doubts about staying, but whether the Celtic board and hierarchy can work together with him to provide clarity and backing.
He said: (Go Radio Football Show), “I got the impression yesterday he was now just thinking, ‘let’s get on with it.’ I’m concentrating on the football department. I’m giving it my all.
“I think you could see that with the team yesterday. They were well drilled in what they were doing, and they’d worked on forward passing.
“He’s all in for the team, trying to get the best. Whatever happens with his contract situation, the board will organically sort itself out. It can be sorted. Everything can be sorted.
“It’s just about swallowing egos and having the conversation between a few members and discussing what the script is with Brendan Rodgers going forward. And I’m sure that, in the meantime, while that’s happening, he’ll be trying to win games for Celtic.”
Mulgrew’s comments highlight the belief inside the Celtic camp that Rodgers remains committed despite outside noise. The Irishman has repeatedly dismissed talk of walking away before his contract expires.
Instead, the focus is on building momentum on the pitch, with Rodgers eager to prove that recent transfer frustrations will not derail the season. For the players, his approach has been clear: ignore the background noise and deliver results.
The question of a long-term deal will linger until the board takes steps to resolve it, but Mulgrew believes that can be managed in due course. What matters most now is that Rodgers has the team moving in the right direction.
