Bruno Guimaraes watched on from the bench as Newcastle United drew with Bournemouth on Sunday.
Eddie Howe made the difficult decision to heavily rotate his starting XI, with the Newcastle United manager making seven changes to the side that lost to Barcelona in the Champions League.
One of those changes saw Bruno Guimaraes drop to the bench, and that is where he remained for the entire 90 minutes.
In contrast, Lewis Hall played the full game at the Vitality Stadium. He was deployed at left wing-back by Howe, on what was his first competitive start since February.

Having missed so much football after undergoing foot surgery, it was great to see Hall back in the Newcastle United starting XI.
He performed very well against Bournemouth, helping his side keep their fourth clean sheet of the season.
Following the game, Hall took to his official Instagram account.
Alongside pictures of his return to the starting XI, he wrote: “A point for the road. Top support as always. Onto Wednesday.”
Hall’s message prompted a reply from Bruno Guimaraes, who had watched Hall’s performance from the sidelines.
In response, Bruno commented: “What a player.”
That is what a lot of Newcastle United fans will have been saying about Hall following his return. He grew into the game and defended very well against the lively Antoine Semenyo, and it will be exciting to see what he can achieve offensively once he regains his sharpness.

Following Howe’s decision to leave him on the bench, Bruno took to his official Instagram account to deliver his verdict.
While the 27-year-old was disappointed to sit out Newcastle’s draw with Bournemouth, he understands the gaffer’s decision.
Bruno wrote on his Instagram story: “After 68 Premier League games in a row, my run has come to an end. I would have loved to make it 100, but sometimes we have to take care of our own body. Great point away from home. See you soon.”
The soonest Newcastle United fans could see Bruno is on Wednesday night. The Magpies are in the midst of a relentless run of games, continuing with a Carabao Cup clash against Bradford City at St James’ Park.
Howe will likely rotate again, as he utilises his Newcastle United squad and keeps his players fresh.
That could result in Bruno Guimaraes replacing Sandro Tonali on Wednesday. The Italy international played every minute against Wolves, Barcelona and Bournemouth, which should result in him getting a rest in the Carabao Cup.
