On paper, having both Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa is a nice problem for Newcastle United to deal with.
While losing Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson in the same summer was a blow for Newcastle United, Woltemade and Wissa look like decent replacements.
Indeed, Wissa theoretically arrives with a virtual guarantee of Premier League goals given his record at Brentford over the last few seasons.
Woltemade, meanwhile, looks like the sort of player who can develop into a leading European marksman just like Isak did during his stay on Tyneside.
That’s a nice balance for Eddie Howe, in theory. However, Wissa will not play for his new club before October following a knee injury, while Woltemade is still adapting to life at a new club.
All of that perhaps explains why Newcastle could enter the striker market again soon.
Newcastle United target another striker signing
Though there have been some promising signs from the German, having to rely on him as the first-choice forward right now is hardly ideal.
Even when Wissa returns, Newcastle will almost certainly lose him for a prolonged period of time when the Africa Cup of Nations starts later this year.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the club will likely look to sign another striker at some point.
If that doesn’t happen in January, it “certainly” will next summer.
Bad news for William Osula amid Newcastle United transfer development
Newcastle are likely to have money to spend in the January 2026 transfer market, following the sale of Isak to Liverpool.
With goals a problem so far this season, it would make sense to target further attacking signings.
That would surely be bad news for William Osula, however.
Osula almost joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Newcastle on deadline day but was eventually kept on as cover.
Surely already behind Wissa and Woltemade in the pecking order, the arrival of another forward will only push him further down the pecking order.
